The SL04 Mini Flood Light: Built to Endure
By Patrick Harders, LC
I've spent more than two decades in this industry, and I've seen what happens when manufacturers chase short-term wins. Sealed integrated LEDs might look good out of the box, but when they fail you're left with no path for service and no option but to replace the entire luminaire.
As a lighting designer and installer, I've never been comfortable with that. It wastes time, money and trust. I designed the SL04 Mini Flood Light to be different.
Since we introduced it in 2014, the SL04 has become one of the most reliable luminaires in our lineup. Thousands have been installed, and to this day I haven't seen a wave of failures or field complaints. It performs as intended year after year. That kind of staying power doesn't happen by accident.

Built to endure, designed to perform
Here's what sets the SL04 apart:
- Adjustable output from 133 to 464 lumens. Versatility matters. Whether you're illuminating signage, grazing a wall or highlighting an ornamental tree, you have the output range to match.
- CRI 98+ for true-to-life color. Lighting isn't just about brightness; it's about fidelity. The SL04 renders colors accurately and naturally.
- Through-bolt construction and a marine-grade, virgin brass housing. Built for the realities of the field. This isn't a product made to sit on a shelf; it's made to be installed, serviced and trusted.
- 10-foot lead wire. Long enough for clean, strategic wiring. No extra splices. No compromises.
- Widest flood spread in its class. A 128° field angle delivers a smooth, even wash of light with no harsh centers or distracting hot spots.
- Upgraded Canadian-made ground stake. A solid foundation matters. This stake keeps the luminaire where you put it, even in soft soils, and installs easily.
Why it matters
Lighting professionals don't choose favorites lightly. The SL04 earned that status not through flashy marketing, but through consistent, real-world performance. It's compact, durable and quietly effective, the kind of tool you come to rely on without even thinking about it. If it's not part of your standard toolkit yet, it might be time to give it a closer look.
